Ruth Carolyn Cox Burbage, 76, died at home on Tuesday, June 11, 2019. She was born Dec. 1, 1942, to Robert and Helen Cox of Marcella, NJ. Ruth was raised in NJ and TX, she was a long-time resident of Round O, SC until moving to GA during her battle with Alzheimer’s. She enjoyed Cowboy Church of LaFayette, sewing, quilting, embroidery, cooking, baking and reading. Ruth was a very caring and giving person always willing to help someone in need. She was a successful Chef and Entrepreneur, owning and running her own business for many years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, and Aunts and Uncles who held a special place in her heart. She leaves behind Uncle Bill & Aunt Erma Donaldson of NJ; two sisters-Patricia & Lee Hitzler of Eutawville, SC and Joyce Scatton of Whichita, KS; 3 Children-Deborah & Steve Dunn of LaFayette, Ga, Scott Hammon of Summerville, SC and Elaine & Robert Keith of Mineral Wells, WV; six grandchildren-Steven, Samantha, Christopher, Robert, Rebecca and Gary; eight great grandchildren; nieces and nephews-Robert, Janet, Erica & Daniel and several Cousins in NJ and Texas.
Services will be held at Herndon and Sons in Walterboro, SC on Friday June 14th at 10 a.m. In Lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to a no-kill animal shelter near your home or for Alzheimer’s research.
