Anne Finley Roberts

Anne Finley Roberts, 102, departed this life on Wednesday March 30, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. Anne was born on May 16,1919 to Eloise Hinton in Summerville (Marion County) GA.

Upon moving to Chattanooga with her family she attended school and graduated from Howard High School and Chattanooga City College formally known as Zion College. Anne was an avid seamstress and interior decorator. After receiving her degree, she served many years as bookkeeper and treasurer at Howard School (k-12) until her retirement. Anne was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church -East Eight Street until her health prevented regular attendance. She was one of the founding members of the Ladies Guild Club at the Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Wilbert R Roberts, Sr. parents Eloise Hinton Clark (Clarence) and parents in-law Queen Roberts (Willie) son Wilbert R Roberts, Jr. son -in- law James A Anderson and grandson Kermit Lee.

 She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Anita R Lee (Burrell) Vine Grove Ky. Mildred R Anderson, Ingrid R Denson, daughter -in- law, Barbara Lindsey Roberts, granddaughter Karen Denson- Hayes, Marietta, GA., grandson Kelvin Anderson, great-grandson Sergeant-Specialist Kenneth J Hayes (Naomi) Marietta, GA, and great great-granddaughter Zoriyah Hayes, Marietta, GA, and a host of relatives and friends. Family is asking memorial contributions be made to 506 East Eight Street in Anne’s memory instead of flowers. Graveside services will be at National Cemetery on Wednesday, April 13th 2022 at 2:00pm. Body will lie in state at First Baptist Church (East Eight Street) from 11:00pm-1:00pm.
