Adrine Bonner Obituary

Obituary

Adrine was born in Chattanooga, TN on February 20, 1947 and died on February 14, 2022. He was the first of three children born to Elman and Elizabeth Sims Bonner both of whom preceded him in death.

He is a graduate of Riverside High School and McKenzie Business College.

Adrine served honorably in the United States Army and was discharged in like manner. Sergeant Bonner was a decorated Vietnam Veteran. Among his medals are the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal and the Air Medal.

Adrine and Geraldine Colvin were united in holy matrimony on August 23, 1975 and were blessed and favored to share an amazing 46 years together.

He worked in excess of forty years. Some of his employers were: Signal Knitting Mills, Chattanooga, TN; United Parcel Service, Livonia, MI; Salm Carpet Mills, Ringgold, GA, and Alstom Powers formerly Combustion Engineering, Chattanooga, TN. He retired from Alstom Powers in 2006. At the time, he was sergeant of the company’s security force.

Adrine was faithful in The Church of the Living God for more than 30 years. He loved the Church and served wherever the need was greatest. His last appointment was preacher for the congregation.

He loved people and enjoyed making them smile and laugh. People returned the love. They genuinely enjoyed spending time with him.

In additional to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anita Bonner and lifetime dear friend Mr. Wilbert Weaver.

Adrine is survived by his wife, Geraldine Colvin Bonner; daughter, Sherry Meshon Bonner, Midville, GA; brother, Albert Hitchcock, Chattanooga, TN and sister, Audrey (Allen) Crawley, Waynesboro, VA.

Others left to cherish his memories are grandchildren, nephews, a niece, aunts, an uncle, cousins, and many beloved friends.

His loving spirit will be sorely missed by many of the lives he touched.
