Walter Darrell Hairston was born on August 4, 1972 in Chattanooga,Tennessee to Martha Ruth Davis and Walter Cox Hairston. Walter was a father of five and a grandfather of seven. He enjoyed being a father and grandfather. Walter was educated in the Chattanooga Public Schools.

On Wednesday, March 06,2024 Walter departed this life at the age of 51 years old. He leaves to cherish his memory, his five children, Taiwan Darell Greathouse, Ashlee Samone Woods, Asharia Nicole Woods, Krishon Darrell Hairston, and Aja Mackenzie Hairston; four grand-daughters, MaKyleigh Greathouse,Ma'Kadence Greathouse, Mar'Syiah Greathouse, and Ar'Monie Woods; two grandsons, Taiwan Greathouse Jr., and Ju'Monie Sheppard; Two Brothers, Ivan Hairston and Ronald Bridges; One Niece, Tadasia Hairston; Aunts, Myrtle Watkins, Susan Davis, Millicent Davis, Cassandra Seals, BettyJean Cox, Debra Cox, and Linda Cox, all of Chattanooga,Tennessee; Uncles, Marty Davis, Willie Roy Cox, Eddie Earl Cox, and David Cox, all of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Very Special Cousin/Big Sister Michelle Watkins and a host of great nieces/nephews,cousins and friends .
