Virginia Robinson, age 90, of Chattanooga, TN, transitioned to the Father on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
Virginia Lugenie Mills was born to Thaddeus and Bessie Mills on January 21, 1935. She was the eldest of two daughters. She was educated in the Chattanooga Public School System, beginning at Calvin Donaldson, Howard High School, and Cardoza High School in Washington, D.C. She later attended Cleveland State College, where she earned an Associate Degree in Education.
Church affiliations included Second Missionary Baptist Church, Chattanooga, TN, where she faithfully served as President of the Missionary Union Ministry and participated in the Sunday School, Usher's, and Welcome Ministries/Committee. She also served at St. Elmo Baptist Church in various capacities for several years.
Virginia's musical gift allowed her to be a member of the singing group "Echoes of Zion," which accompanied Pastor Robert Reid on the radio.
Her many positions in the Christian realm included serving with the Chattanooga-Hamilton County B.M.E., where she held the role of Vice President of the Women's Ministry for twelve years. She also served as Coordinator for the All-State Tea and Moderator's Banquet, Assistant Secretary of the District Usher's Ministry, and Coordinator for the Bus Ministry for State Conventions.
Her state obligations included serving as Secretary and Assistant Secretary of the T.B.M.E. Convention Usher's Ministry and as a member of the Women's Sick and Shut-In Ministry, where she faithfully served under four State Presidents. Additionally, she fulfilled various other state duties and served as Historian of the District, member of the District Usher Ministry, and Eastern Regional Memorial and Tribute Committee Chairperson.
Her tasks in the social realm included serving as a Federal Parent Coordinator and as President of the Hamilton County Democratic Women's Club.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Sabrina Shepherd.
She is survived by her son, Gurdon Robinson, Jr., and wife Pearline of Rowett, TX; son Reginald Robinson, Sr.; grandchildren Reginald Jr. and De'Naizha, and two great-grandchildren, Harmoni and Lyric, all of Little Rock, AR; sister Mary Jo Lacy of Cleveland, OH; along with multiple cousins and relatives.
