Matthew Byron Cartwright was born on August 29, 1978 in Chattanooga, TN to Leroy and Helen Cartwright (both deceased).

Matthew graduated from Cleveland Community College in Cleveland, TN. Matthew had a loving personality and a great sense of humor. He loved his family, friends, producing music, and cooking.

Matthew was proceeded in his death by his brothers, Roylee Cartwright and Frankie Cartwright. He leaves to mourn his death his son, Byron Cartwright of Albemarle, North Carolina, his brother, Travis Pickens, sister/cousin Minister Lynn Parrish-Lewis of Franklin, North Carolina, his girlfriend, Sharalynn McGhee, and his best friend, Mr. Rodrell Daniel, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
